Framed and hung
Every thickness, 9 mm included, can be framed and hung. The piece, its rear support and the fixings form one chain, and every link has to carry the load. What the wall itself is made of usually decides what is possible, well before the choice of hanger does.
- Ceramic to rear structure — the first connection
- Rear support frame and its fixing points
- Rail or hanger hardware
- Wall fixings, and the wall itself

Fixed with tile adhesive
A 9 mm panel made as a mural or feature wall can become part of the wall finish instead of hanging on it. The adhesive and the method are matched to the actual panel size, the substrate condition and the site environment. Fixed this way, a panel needs no decorative frame or rear support frame.
- Substrate must be sound, flat and prepared
- Adhesive selected for panel size and site conditions
- Panel layout and joins planned before fixing
- No hanging hardware needed for this method

The chain is only as good as the wall
A hanger’s rating tells you about the hanger. It tells you nothing about the plasterboard behind it, the bond between the ceramic and its rear structure, or the screw someone chose on the day.
That is why we publish weight and back structure rather than a load rating. Give your installer the real numbers — the weight table by size and thickness — and let them size the fixings to the wall in front of them. That is the only place the question can actually be answered.
What the wall needs to tell us
For a hung piece, this is what we need to know before an order, not after delivery.
| Wall | What it takes | What we need to know |
|---|---|---|
| Concrete or solid masonry | An anchor system matched to the substrate, allowing for edge distances and the actual condition of the wall. | Substrate material, thickness, and any hollowness or defects |
| Timber stud wall | Load taken into suitable studs or into designed reinforcement, not into the board. | Stud positions, section size and any noggin or reinforcement |
| Plasterboard or lightweight partition | We do not assume the board face can carry a large ceramic piece. The frame behind it is what matters. | Full wall build-up — not just a photograph of the surface |
| Large, public or high-level positions | Installed by experienced people, with structural design where the situation calls for it. | Measured net weight, size, centre of gravity, detail drawings, site conditions and anti-fall requirements |
